THE PROCESS OF ACTIVATED CARBON FILTER FOR WATER TREATMENT

1.Preparation of Activated Carbon

If using granular activated carbon (GAC), it is typically pre-treated to enhance its adsorption capacity. Pre-treatment methods may include acid washing or steam activation.

2. Filter Bed Design

Design the activated carbon filter bed based on the characteristics of the wastewater and the desired treatment outcomes. Consider factors such as flow rates, contact time, and the type of contaminants to be removed.

3.Installation of Filters

Install the activated carbon filters in the wastewater treatment system. The filters may be in the form of fixed-bed columns or other configurations depending on the specific needs of the industrial process.

4. Adsorption Process

Wastewater flows through the activated carbon filter bed. Contaminants in the water adsorb onto the surface of the activated carbon particles due to the porous nature of the material.

5. Monitoring and Control

Implement monitoring systems to assess the performance of the activated carbon filter. This may involve measuring influent and effluent concentrations of target contaminants.
