How to choose solid-liquid separation equipment: screw stacker VS filter press

In sewage treatment, screw stackersand filter presses are the two most common solid-liquid separation equipment. They are both used to treat mixtures of suspended solids and liquids in industrial and environmental fields, but their working principles and structures are different, which leads to a big difference between the two devices. Here are the main differences between them:

1. Working principle:

Snail stacking machine: The snail stacking machine evenly distributes the suspended solid and liquid mixture on the filter belt, and then removes water from the solid material with the help of extrusion, gravity and chemicals, ultimately forming a dehydration condition of the solid material. . The filter belt of the screw stacker moves continuously on the rollers to gradually press the solids dry.

Filter Press: A filter press uses a series of parallel arranged filter plates and frames through which a mixture (usually a mixture of suspended solids and liquids) is filtered. During the filtration process, the liquid is squeezed out and the solids are squeezed between the filter plates to form a filter cake. A filter press removes moisture from solid matter by applying high pressure.

2. Structure and operation:

Snail stacking machine: Snail stacking machine usually consists of rollers, filter belts, squeeze rollers, guide devices, dewatering rollers and other parts. The filter belt moves on the rollers to evenly distribute the mixture on the belt, and then with the help of squeezing and guiding devices, the dehydration process is achieved.

Filter press: Filter press usually consists of filter plate, filter frame, hydraulic system, etc. The mixture is pumped between the filter plate and filter frame, and then high pressure is applied through the hydraulic system to remove moisture from the solid matter to form a filter cake.

3. Scope of application and characteristics:

Screw stacking machine: Suitable for processing large amounts of suspended solid and liquid mixtures, suitable for continuous operation, with large processing capacity, but relatively large floor space.

Filter press: Suitable for processing smaller amounts of mixtures, suitable for intermittent operations, simple structure, relatively easy to operate and maintain, but relatively small processing capacity.

PS: Space restrictions:

Screw stacking machine: Usually relatively large and requires a certain amount of installation space. If you have enough space on your site, a screw stacker may be a good choice.

Filter press: The structure is relatively compact and suitable for places with limited space. If space is limited, consider a filter press.

The screw stacking machine has a high degree of automation and is suitable for large-scale continuous operations with large processing volumes. if you have a limited budget, a small processing capacity, and sufficient manual operation, a filter press is also a good choice.

To sum up, there are obvious differences in the working principle, structure and scope of application between screw stackers and filter presses. The choice of which equipment to use usually depends on factors such as processing capacity, operation mode, space restrictions and processing requirements.
